Waffle Block Fun

The things you can do with waffle blocks are massive. Besides the typical rectangle shape, they can be shaped into squares, connected into mazes, or rearranged so they form nice exploration paths. Needless to say the pigs love 'm!

Enjoy the new video I made. I compiled several video's into one, but it's stil 6.5 minutes of video in total. Switch on the speakers, as the sounds and music are a must, lol!

I know, I know, we overdid it, lol.

But, everything to please those beedy sweet eyes!!! Here's our cage. The cabinet on the right is even a fire exit escape "pod", as the pigs can be chased in there, sealed off moving 4 clips and close the entrance, close the lid and roll the cabinet out the door: all done in 2 minutes in case of an emergency! It contains the most important items, like pellets, hay and meds, as a survival kit.

When bathing your piggy in a bath tub always check the water temperature to avoid any burns. Try to be as patient as you can be, because they will run around the tub making it imposible for you to shampoo them. When bathing your piggy in a sink be extremely careful because he/she will try to jump and if the piggy falls it can be fatal. Last week, on Monday, my guinea, Dudley, died. I don't know why, he was fine till about 9-10ish the night before, when i noticed he wasn't as hyper, so i figured i'd check him up the next day, to decide wether or not i needed to take him to the vet. okay, my sow had pups about 2 1/2 weeks ago, and i was looking the 3 pups and mum over, and mum has A LOT of hair loss on one side of her, like, you can see the skin quite a bit, and i'm so worried....

The pups look fine, except a little bald patch behind their ears, put i'm not sure that isn't normal...

heres their conditions, if they can help.

my room is pretty warm, then pretty cold, the heat basically changes all the time.

they don't have any hay right now, or for about a week now, ...

These are my kids. I hope you like them. The black one is Zippy, aka ZipZip, my boar. He's 4. The white one is Harlequin, aka Harley and Little Girl and LG. She had two mammory tumors removed in December, and was shaved from her shoulders to her butt. Her hair is growing back slowly. Meanwhile, she looks like a lion with a mane, so I call her my lion piggy. The brown one is Fudgy Momma, aka Fudgy and Momma.

I have a friend in Michigan who had 10 piggies. She got her first piggy after her son died, and the therapist suggested getting a pet for her and her other son, to help get them through the bad period. She and her son got King George, piggy number one. Then she went on-line to a cavy forum and met people who told her to get that piggy a friend, so she went to a rescue and found Sprocket. KG became her son's piggy, and Sprocket became her piggy.

Sprocket has been so badly abused, he was isolated ...

Guinea Pig Tricks

When I got my Guinea Pig, I could not wait to teacg him some new tricks, but first I had to let him settle in.

This morning I noticed him standing up on 2 feet in his cage, I rememered reading that you could teach them the trick where you tell them to stand up, them give them a treat.

In half a day I have learnt him to do this, I say to him 'stand' and he stands up on 3 feet, then I give him carrot.

I have half done the circle trick- he can do it really fast.

The hat contest consists in creating hats for your piggies and put colors and funny graphics to the hat to give life to it. Difficult Guinea Pig

I have just bought a new male Guinea Pig, Tincker.

He is really friendly, eats from my hand and lets me stroke him! I have only had him 2 weeks and already I have learnt him to do the circle trick with his favourite treat.

However, just in the last few days he has been behaving strangly.

He wont let me pick him up with out a struggle, once on me he is ok.

But he keeps on having these wierd moments, where he will shake his whole body uncontrolably, like shaking his head really fast and ...

My rescue's going to be in the newspaper!!

The AJC called to interview me for an upcoming article they're doing! I did it yesterday and it's going to come out a week from this Sunday. They chose my rescue and another because, according to them, we're the two main/biggest rescue in the state.

AJC is the only major newspaper in Atlanta and gets 2.3 million individual readers a week, so I'm extremely excited annd I'm definitely going to type it up and put it on here!

I've been making cavy comics for 4 years now. I have enough at home to fill 10 years of them, lol. It all started as fun, but people loved them so much, so I kept making them. The Dutch forum even asked for a translated version of them.

I had some hideys hand made. I used to be able to make them myself, but can't anymore, I'm too decayed, lol. They are easy to copy, please feel inspired!

They contain no nails, no staples, just kiddie safe glue, that can stand water and pee very well. I already have a train and caravans similar as these in use and they get cleaned in soapy water with Dettol.

My parakeet Moss may have fertile eggs! I'm so excited!

I wanted Azul & Lief (my other keets) to mate and have babies but when it became clear that Azul & Lief weren't gonna breed I took out the nest box and put their friends Cloud & Moss in wth them again. Then a few days ago I realized Moss had layed 3 eggs (now 4) in a coffee creamer box I had in their cage cuz they like to play in it. Druppy here! Bibi says that besidezz change furrrrr a lot, hoomans have weird habitzzz. My hooman mom sings a lot. Hooman dad says she gives him earworms. I hope they don't hurt. She not give uzz earwormzzz. I'm not sure yet that I like her singing. Kooky sayz I get used to it.

I usually have the vet trim the kids' nails, as I don't see well enough, but money's tight, so hub and I have started a nail trimming schedule. Zippy had two fingernails that were were curling into the fingers next to them, so we cut those last night. Tonight we clipped his toenails. He doesn't like getting it done, but after getting nail trimmings two nights in a row, he was more relaxed with it this time. I hold the piggy, and hub clips the nail.
